Choosing the right front door lights

I always think that first impressions really count, right?! Outside lighting is a massive part of this, particularly as the nights start to draw in. Don’t worry – I’m not suggesting summer is over yet! We still have time!

But the front of the house has been a work in progress for over 18 months now, and will be for a while longer. But it’s the part of the house I am most eager to crack on with.

I crave that feeling of pulling into the driveway (that also doesn’t exist yet) and seeing a calm, collected arrival. I started planning the front garden design before the bathrooms!

We had two lights planned, one either side of the front door, from the beginning. And a classical, but streamlined approach seems to be the right way forward for the house. It has a little bit of Georgian grandeur, with a lot of countryside rusticity.

There’s a good selection out there now, with Pooky offering a good price point to quality ratio, plus Jim Lawrence (and others) at the higher range. And everything in-between! Scroll down to see my top picks out there right now (some affiliate links).
